Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer December 16, 2007

 Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose
and if you ever saw it
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names
they never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas eve
Santa came to say:
“Rudolph with your nose so bright
won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”

Then how the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee
“Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
you’ll go down in history.”

Thanks a lot and a lot to Alice and every dear classmates!  You’ve given me many constructive suggestions making me think more about how teaching should be and what teaching is going on.  I taught on stage but learned more off stage.  Your evaluation is valuable to me indeed!

Journal Writing June 2, 2007

Filed under: English Teaching — clarelin @ 11:37 pm

This is journal writing in class.  Teacher guided us (four people as a group) to complete an unfinished paragraph: “Last Friday evening, I went home exhausted after a long day.  When I got home and tried to open the door with my key, suddenly …”  Finally, after a series of writing process, we discovered that the ending of story became far beyond the imagination of the beginning writer.  Let’s see how creative the writing is!

◆ Clare >>

Last Friday evening, I went home exhausted after a long day.  When I got home and tried to open the door with my key, suddenly there was a strange man walked toward me and asked, “Do you go to school today?”

◆ Angie >>

I was so scared that I couldn’t say anything at that moment.  Afterward, he told me that he was one of my father’s friends.  After hearing what he said, I felt a bit realized and I invited him to my house.  On entering the house, I served him some food.

◆ Milly >>

We talked to each other happily until my mother and father came home.  When my parents entered the house seeing the man, who said that he was my father’s friend, they both asked me, “Who is he?”  ”Dad, isn’t he your friend?”, I asked.  “No, I don’t know who he is”.

◆ Cynthia >>

They felt surprised and wondered about who he is.  Seeing that we feel puzzled, the man told us who he is.  Actually, he is my father’s cousin, twenty years old less than my father’s age.  The last time my father met him is twenty years ago when he was an infant!  No wonder my father didn’t recognize him.  However, how strange is that the man recognized me!

Feedback to Group 6 : Writing Presentation May 13, 2007

With the expectation of the seniors, the most impressive part for me in writing presentation is the role play!  At first, Vincent introduced poems and poets as introduction of writing; then, they took Star War as an example and put it on a show.  They prepared hard and gave us a lot of surprises all the time.  In addition, Hyde and Daniel imitated vividly the professors we familiar with to illustrate process writing.  They really did a good job!  After the cheerful performance, we started to write something such as summary and writing about Danshui.  Finally, because time was not enough, the writing part seemed a little hurry.  But, I quite enjoy involving in the atmosphere of their role play.  They made me laugh a lot that day!  Later, in the discussion of their presentation, they did a good job mostly, except for the length of role play and writing practice for students.  Perhaps, exchange the length of both would be better!
